Text Phishing Scheme

November 26th, 2013
Phishing Scam Fraud
A phishing scheme is in full progress as of 11/23/2013.  You may receive a  text message claiming any of the following:
 –  Unusual activity detected on your account.
 –  Your account has been frozen.
 –  You must confirm your identity.
 – Your account must be activated.
Several different phone numbers and/or E-mail addresses have been included with the text message, too many to list here.  The upshot is that if you call the number the criminals will ask for your debit/credit card information.   The messages were not sent by State Bank nor any other legitimate bank.
Recommendations:
1 – Do not respond to the text!
2 – Never give out any personal information. i.e. card numbers, account numbers, social security numbers etc. in response to a text message.
3 – Write down phone numbers or E-mail addresses provided in the message and forward it to online@sbsu.com so we can assist with taking down the scam.
4 – If you did provide card information please contact our Card Department immediately at 435-865-2331.
Please note:  If unusual activity is detected on your credit/debit card by our legitimate fraud detection service you will receive a phone call (not a text message)The caller will ask you for the last 4-digits of your social security number, but will NEVER ask for your full SSN or date of birth and will NEVER ask you for your full card number,  PIN or CVV code
